Documents: ask for a file, download a reply, find it in the library

1Ask the assistant to make a document

1. Write what you need

   For example: “Draft a one-year premises lease and send it as a Word file”, “Make a sales manager's resume as a PDF” or “Format this text as Markdown”. Words like “file”, “in Word” and “as PDF” help the assistant understand that you need an actual file.

2. Specify the layout if needed

   The assistant picks settings from your words: “landscape orientation”, “with a table of contents”, “with a title page”, A4 or Letter page size, margins, font. If you say nothing, the standard settings apply.

3. Get a document card

   The assistant writes one short phrase and sends the file as a card with an icon, a name, a format label and the Open and Download buttons. The text of the document will not be repeated in the chat.

4. Open the viewer

   Open shows the document in a viewing window (for Word, Excel, PDF and others). The window has Open in new tab, Download, New chat with file and Open chat, the chat where the file was created. A document that is too large offers to download it in full.

Available formats: Word (.docx), PDF and Markdown (.md); Excel (.xlsx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) for tables and presentations. The text size for a document is limited to two megabytes.

2Download any reply as a file

You don't need to ask for a file in advance: any text reply can be turned into a document. Under the reply, click “⋯” (More) → Download as…:

• Word and PDF: available for every assistant reply with text;
• Excel: appears if the reply has a table;
• Presentation: appears if the reply has at least two sections with “##” headings.

After you click, the message “Preparing the document…” appears, then the file downloads. If it fails, you get the notification “Couldn't export the document”.

3Fix your document

Attach a file via “+” → Attach files and write what to change.

• Word. “Shorten this contract to two pages”, “fix the typos”, “translate to English”. The assistant returns a new file “name (ред.).docx” (the original is not overwritten), keeping styles, fonts, page margins and headers/footers, and honestly says what was not carried over (complex layout, text boxes, tracked changes, comments, embedded objects). Conversion: to PDF or Markdown.
• Excel / CSV. The assistant answers questions about the data with exact numbers (“calculate the sum of column C”) and can change cells and sheets.
• Presentation (.pptx). The assistant can change slides.

4Editing in place

For small fixes the assistant does not write the document anew. It changes only the needed places: with exact “was → now” replacements or with new text for a section found by its heading (up to 30 edits at a time). The rest of the text and the formatting stay as they are. The model's reply is short, so the price of an edit does not grow with the size of the file.

• If the needed fragment is not in the document, nothing changes: the assistant first re-reads the text and repeats the edit.
• You can edit a Word file up to 25 MB that is attached to the chat or created in it.
• There are no “Rewrite” or “Shorter” buttons on a selected paragraph yet: ask for edits in words, for example “in section 3 replace the payment term with 10 days”.

A very long document is searched page by page: the processing price is named in advance and the assistant asks for your consent (more in big files).

5Document library

All created and attached files are collected in the Documents section: side panel → More → Documents. At the top is the field “Search by name or format…”. Each file has: a name, a format icon, a source label (platform, model, agent, group) and the time of last use.

• Open: the viewing window;
• Download: download the file;
• Attach to chat: attach the file to the current chat (from a regular chat you can do the same via “+” → My documents);
• New chat with file: a new chat with the file already in its input field;
• Open chat: go to the chat where the file was created or attached;
• Delete: with confirmation; the first click asks “Click again to delete”, the second deletes.

Identical files (same name and size) are grouped and marked “copies: N”: click the label to show or hide the copies. If a file has been deleted from the server or its storage period has expired, it is marked “File unavailable”, and the entry can be removed from the list.

6Limitations

• The model doesn't read audio, video and archives, only their names.
• Word, Excel and presentation documents are read; editing works on text and cells, and complex formatting may not be preserved.
• Files can be attached only after signing in to your account.
